Dalan's Thoughts!

The other week we had to take Dalan & Abigail to the Pediatrician for their annual check-up. I was a little behind on them. During that check-up we discovered that Dalan and Abby are only 3 pounds apart! Dalan weighs 36lbs, and Abigail 33lbs. Abigail still has this nice round belly that sticks out and is having a hard time fitting into her pants. She is in the 50th percentile for her weight. Dalan on the other hand has pants that are constantly falling down on him and he is in the 5th percentile for his weight! The doctor suggested buying vitamins for him. I took them both to the store to pick out their vitamins. Dalan picked spiderman and Abigail picked nemo. They love them. In the store Dalan was telling everyone he could about his vitamins and how they were going to make him so, so strong, and then he would flex his skinny arm to prove his point! He will talk to anyone that will listen to him. It has been about 5 days now and every day he remembers to eat one. He has been going around the house moving chairs, picking up stuff and giving all the credit to his vitamins for making him stronger! Whatever works!

Another Dalan story, for Christmas we wanted to get Dalan legos to try out, but we were a little worried. He gets frustrated very easily and then will cry and throw little tantrums when he gets this way. Sometimes they can get pretty bad, so we didn't want to give him something that would just end in tears all the time. At this same time we were also selling some really big castle and star wars legos on ebay. Dalan thought they were so cool, and wanted to play with them so bad, he would just sit there and look at the box, letting his little imagination pretend he was playing with them despite the fact they were in a box. He does have a really good imagination! Anyways in order to calm him down about the fact that we were not going to open these up and play with them I pointed out the age range on the box. I explained these legos were for 9 years old, and he wasn't old enough yet. That worked right away, when Aron came home from work Dalan told him all about how old you need to be in order to play with the big legos. It worked really, really well. SO well in fact that when I was showing Dalan the little legos at the store to get an idea of what he might want to play with he pointed out to me that these legos were for 6 year olds and he was not 6 yet, Not until next year! It was so cute, of course when he was explaining this to me he was not quiet at all and the lady in the same aisle thought it was so funny that she started to talk to Dalan and tried to tell him she thought he could do it, however Dalan was very insistent that only 6 year olds could. It was cute! In the end we did get him a little lego set for Christmas. It was Indiana Jones and it was for a 6 year old, but Aron just told Dalan that he was such a smart little boy he knew he could do it. And he did! Now he has pictures of other lego sets that came with this one. The other day he was showing me the picture of the big huge truck and he told me that only 100 year olds could put that one together! I just giggled and gave him a huge hug!

One more, the other day Dalan come running down the stairs with a huge grin on his face and exclaims that he has got a great idea! I have a great idea, a really great idea! Okay what is it, I couldn't help but smile wondering what was going to come out of his mouth. We can take a cookie, and put ice cream with the cookie. And the cookie will have ice cream on it, and then...put ice cream with the cookie..and then put another cookie on the ice cream!! TA DAH! Two cookies with ice cream on it! An ice cream sandwich with cookies! He is such a little entrepreneur, someday he'll make us millions!
